Telangana CM Orders State Honours for Veteran CPI Leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to conduct the last rites of CPI national leader and former MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy with state honours.
The Chief Minister instructed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to issue necessary orders and make arrangements immediately.
Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, former General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and veteran parliamentarian, passed away late last night in Hyderabad. He was 84. He is survived by his wife Vijayalakshmi and sons Nikhil and Kapil.
Reddy, who had been suffering from respiratory problems, breathed his last at 10:20 pm while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gachibowli. His eyes were donated to the LV Prasad Eye Institute.
Born on March 25, 1942, in Kondraopalli village of the then Mahabubnagar district, Reddy began his political journey through student activism. He went on to become a two-time MP from Nalgonda and later served as CPI General Secretary from 2012 to 2019.

According to CPI Telangana State Secretary and MLA Kunamaneni Sambasiva Rao, Reddy’s mortal remains will be kept at Magdum Bhavan in Himayat Nagar tomorrow from 10 am to 3 pm for the public, leaders, and dignitaries to pay their respects.
His body will then be taken to Gandhi Medical College, where it will be handed over at 5 pm for research purposes by medical students.
