Telangana Agriculture, Marketing, Cooperation, Handlooms & Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said the Telangana Rising Global Summit–2025 will serve as a pivotal platform to propel the state toward its long-term goal of becoming a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047.

He noted that Telangana’s current economy stands at around USD 200 billion, and achieving a fifteen-fold expansion over the next two decades will require focused sectoral strategies, with agriculture at the core.

Chairing a review meeting at the Secretariat on Friday, the Minister instructed officials on preparing audiovisual content for the summit.

He said the presentations should clearly showcase Telangana’s development potential, opportunities for global investment and the state’s forward-looking agricultural vision.

Tummala underlined that agriculture—providing employment to 66 per cent of rural households and contributing 17 per cent to GSVA—will be the cornerstone of the state’s economic transformation.

He said that boosting farmer incomes, raising productivity, strengthening value addition and expanding agri-exports are essential to meeting the USD 3 trillion target.

The Minister outlined several initiatives that will elevate Telangana’s farm sector to global standards, including IoT-enabled micro-irrigation, soil health management, agritech innovation, TARCC initiatives, global seed leadership, horticulture mega clusters, oil palm expansion, farm tourism, linking FPOs with food delivery platforms, and the scaling up of dairy, meat and fisheries.

Strengthening agri-logistics, he said, will further open export opportunities worth thousands of crores.

He added that the Vision 2047 roadmap will crystallise this direction, blending technology, data and market-driven tools to create a future-ready agricultural ecosystem.

Welfare measures such as Rythu Bharosa, loan waivers, crop loss compensation and Rythu Bima, he said, have already laid a strong foundation for farmers’ livelihoods.

“Telangana’s economy can grow only when its agriculture grows,” Tummala said. “Farmers’ hard work is the backbone of the state. As we move toward the USD 3 trillion goal, agriculture will remain our most critical driving force.”

He expressed confidence that the upcoming global summit will mark the beginning of a new era of agriculture, technology and investment in Telangana.

Agriculture Secretary Surendra Mohan, Director Gopi, Agriculture University VC Janaiah, Horticulture University VC Rajireddy, Markfed MD Srinivas Reddy, HACA MD Chandrasekhar Reddy and Marketing Director Lakshmibai attended the meeting, an official statement said.
