Telangana to Hold Grand Condolence Meet Honouring Poet Andesri
Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar says the tribute reflects the cultural pride of Telangana and CM Revanth Reddy’s commitment to poets, artists, and Dalit-Bahujan communities.
Telangana will honour renowned state writer and poet Andesri with a grand condolence meet that reflects the pride and cultural spirit of Telangana, SC, ST and Divyang Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar announced on Monday.
The Minister convened a preparatory meeting at his residence with poets, artists, Dalit organisations, public associations and employee unions to discuss arrangements for the ceremony.
He said the funeral would stand as a testament to the respect Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has extended to poets and artists.
Laxman Kumar said the Chief Minister has always stood by Dalit-Bahujan communities — from decisions on SC classification to measures ensuring dignity for artists.
"As a message of Dalit unity and gratitude to the Chief Minister, let us make the condolence meeting for Andesri a grand success," he urged.
He noted that no previous Chief Minister had given such honour to poets and artists, pointing out CM Revanth Reddy's personal involvement in Andesri's funeral arrangements.
The Minister described Andesri's contributions as embodying the very essence of Telangana.
"His works are not just literature — they carry the spirit of Telangana and serve as guidelines for future generations," he said.
He called for the condolence meeting to become a large cultural and social gathering, bringing together people, poets, artists, students and various organisations on a single platform.
Key participants at the meeting included Professor Kashim, Professor Vidyasagar, TMRPS leaders Medi Papaiah, Ituka Raju, Ramesh and Satish Madiga, GENCO Medi Ramesh, Music Rajalingam, Arepalli Rajender, Mohan, Chinta Babu, Manchala Yadagiri, Ganta Sudarshan, Ande Rukkamma, Munjagala Vijay Kumar, Mallepogu Srinivas, Jeedi Narasimha, INTUC leaders Shiva, Bheem, Ravikiran, Lazar, Sugunamma, Joseph, Yadagiri, Shankar and OU research scholar Palvai Nagesh, among others.
The Minister approved the action plan based on the suggestions received from the participants.
