Three people have died in separate rain-related incidents in Telangana over the past few days, officials confirmed on Friday.

On July 23, despite heavy rains, two individuals went fishing at the LMD reservoir in Karimnagar district and tragically drowned, police reported. On the same day, a 20-year-old man was struck and killed by lightning while riding his two-wheeler in Wazeedu mandal, Mulugu district.

Meanwhile, many parts of Telangana experienced widespread rainfall on Friday. Bompalli in Karimnagar district recorded 107 mm of rain by the afternoon, followed by 14.3 mm in Uppal, Hyderabad, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society.

The IMD’s Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad forecasted light to moderate rain or thundershowers across most parts of Telangana from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning. They also warned of heavy rainfall in isolated areas like Adilabad and Kumram Bheem Asifabad during this period.

Rain is expected to continue from the morning of July 26 through July 27, with heavy showers again likely in certain districts.

In response, State Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya Seethakka has asked Anganwadi workers to inspect buildings for any damage caused by the rains and take necessary precautions. She advised relocating Anganwadi centres to safer private locations if the current buildings are unsafe.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also directed district collectors to remain on high alert as heavy rains continue to lash various parts of the state.
