Three-Story Building Collapses in Meerut's Zakir Colony, Rescue Operations Underway

8-10 People Feared Trapped, NDRF and Army Informed; Three Children Rescued So Far

A three-story house in dilapidated condition collapsed in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The accident took place in Meerut's Lisadi Gate police station area. It is being told that eight to ten people are feared trapped in this accident in Zakir Colony. Police and rescue teams have reached the spot and relief and rescue work is going on.

Meerut Division Commissioner Selva Kumari said about this incident that a rescue operation is going on after a building collapsed in Zakir Colony of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. 8-10 people are trapped. Police and fire officials are conducting rescue operations. Army, NDRF and SDRF have been informed.

In this case, Meerut SSP Vipin Tada said that there was a three-story house that had collapsed. People nearby are saying that 8 to 10 people are feared trapped in it. Two people have been rescued, rescue team is engaged. He further said that the fire brigade team and local police are engaged. All the officials of the administration are also making efforts. There is no confirmed casualty so far. Apart from 8 to 10 people, there is a possibility of animals being trapped as well.

Meerut Zone ADG DK Thakur said that around 5:30 pm we got the news that a three-story building had collapsed. There was a dairy at the bottom and a woman lived with her children. Three children have been rescued alive, eight people are still buried. NDRF teams are on the way and rescue operations are on.
