‘Don’t Join NDA Out of Fear’: Ameer’s Warning to Vijay Amid CBI Summons and Alliance Buzz

Actor-politician Vijay faces political pressure as filmmaker Ameer Sultan warns that joining the National Democratic Alliance could end his political career amid CBI summons and alliance speculation in Tamil Nadu politics

New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician Vijay has found himself at the centre of an intensifying political debate in Tamil Nadu after filmmaker and actor Ameer Sultan issued a pointed warning suggesting that aligning with the National Democratic Alliance could end Vijay’s political journey.

The remark comes at a time when Vijay’s newly formed political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, is preparing to contest the state Assembly elections for the first time. Traditionally, elections in Tamil Nadu witness multi-cornered contests during the campaign, but the final political battle usually narrows down to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

However, Vijay’s entry into politics has begun to challenge that established pattern. Political observers say the massive fan base he commands across the state could introduce an unpredictable factor in the upcoming polls. While some dismiss the fan following as merely symbolic, others believe it cannot be entirely ruled out as an electoral force capable of influencing outcomes in several constituencies.

Vijay’s growing support base has prompted political parties to reassess their strategies ahead of the elections. Analysts say the actor’s presence in the fray could lead to unexpected electoral shifts.

At present, the DMK-led alliance claims the support of as many as 26 parties, strengthening its political position. Within the opposition camp, however, there is increasing speculation that bringing Vijay’s party into the fold could significantly alter the electoral arithmetic.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is believed to be exploring the possibility of drawing Vijay’s party into the NDA alliance, with the calculation that such a move could strengthen the opposition bloc against the DMK in the forthcoming elections.

Reports in political circles also suggested that Pawan Kalyan — Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and leader of the Jana Sena Party — had spoken to Vijay over the phone and urged him to consider joining the NDA. However, Nainar Nagendran dismissed these reports as rumours.

Meanwhile, Vijay appears to be facing pressure on multiple fronts. A scheduled review of his upcoming film Jananaayagan by the censor board was postponed after a member of the panel reportedly fell ill, delaying the certification process.

At the same time, the Central Bureau of Investigation has issued a summons asking Vijay to appear in connection with an inquiry linked to a case in Karur.

These developments, occurring on the same day, have fuelled speculation in political circles that attempts may be under way to exert pressure on the actor-politician as discussions around alliances intensify.

Amid these developments, Ameer’s remark has drawn significant attention. In a social media post that did not directly mention Vijay by name, the director-actor cautioned against joining the NDA out of fear of investigative action.

“Do not join the NDA fearing a CBI investigation. That would end your political life,” Ameer wrote, in what many interpreted as an indirect warning to Vijay.

For now, Vijay has not publicly responded to the remark or the speculation around possible alliances. But his political debut has already added a new and unpredictable dimension to Tamil Nadu’s electoral landscape.
