Hydropower transforming lives in remote regions in India

As hydropower is the key to becoming carbon neutral, SJVN, NHPC, THDCIL, NEEPCO, DVC and BBMB under the aegis of Ministry of Power, Govt of India is working to harness the untapped potential in India to power the nation with clean and renewable energy.

The hydropower is most valuable renewable energy resource known to mankind till date.

We all know that almost all of the hydropower projects are located in tough terrain areas which, besides producing clean energy, also lead to development in these remote regions in more ways than one.

Hydropower companies help people by developing infrastructure such as roads, bridges, schools and hospitals, providing jobs, scholarships and skill training to make them financially independent under CSR initiatives.

These companies have launched various initiatives in infrastructure, skill training, education, health and environment conservation that have brought positive change in the socio-economic environment in people's lives over the years.

The local population in projects is benefiting by these in form of better healthcare facilities, technical knowhow in agriculture and better employment skills to improve their economies. The students and economically backward people to get more avenues for employment and self employment, besides disabled too getting assistance in becoming more independent to lead a respectable life in society.

The hydropower units also work for preservation and promotion of culture sports and heritage and provide assistance to residents in projects areas in the times of natural disasters.
