West Zone Defence Industry Meet on "Quality Equipment in Time" is hosted by DGQA in Vadodara

In a pioneering move, the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) orchestrated the West Zone Defence Industry Meet centered around the crucial theme, 'Quality Equipment in Time,' on December 14, 2023, in Vadodara. This landmark event, conducted under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, showcased the Ministry's innovative strategies to enhance the efficiency of Defence production and quality assurance processes.

Key highlights included an elucidation of the Government of India's ambitious visions of 'Ease of Doing Business' and 'Make in India' within the Defence manufacturing sector. Sh. T Natarajan, Additional Secretary (Defence Production), emphasized the transformative impact of reforms such as the 'Green Channel' and 'Self Certification' schemes, providing greater autonomy to Defence manufacturers. He underscored the significance of initiatives like 'Remote QA Inspection,' Defence Export Promotion Scheme, and Defence Testing and Infrastructure Scheme, all aimed at accelerating indigenous production and ensuring timely delivery of critical defence equipment.

The prestigious Green Channel certification was awarded to L&T, Mumbai, recognizing their commitment to excellence. The event witnessed active participation from representatives of Defence Industries, alongside senior officers from the Naval QA organization and the Indian Army at Vadodara. To encapsulate the wealth of knowledge shared, a compendium of Technical papers on Quality Assurance was unveiled during this groundbreaking meet, setting a new standard for collaborative advancements in the Defence sector.
