Safdarjung Hospital Adds Advanced TEE Equipment to Strengthen Cardiac Care in Delhi

New diagnostic addition under CSR collaboration aims to improve precision in detecting complex cardiac conditions at one of Delhi’s largest public hospitals.

New Delhi |Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, has strengthened its cardiac care services with the addition of advanced Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) equipment to its Department of Cardiology. The initiative has been undertaken as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) collaboration supported by Fiserv, in partnership with United Way Mumbai and implemented by DFY India.

The newly installed TEE equipment is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to diagnose and manage complex cardiac conditions with greater precision and timeliness, thereby improving patient outcomes in a high-volume public healthcare setting.


Dr. Kavita Rani Sharma, Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, expressed her appreciation for the initiative, stating:

"This addition is not merely an upgrade in equipment, but a meaningful step towards strengthening patient care. In a hospital like ours, where we cater to a large and diverse population, access to advanced diagnostic tools like TEE can make a critical difference in timely and accurate treatment. We deeply value this partnership and remain committed to improving accessible and quality healthcare for all."

Dr. Kavita Sharma also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the Department of Cardiology and its team in delivering continuous and quality care to patients. The department is headed by Dr. Issar, Head of Cardiology, whose leadership continues to guide clinical excellence in cardiac care.

Dr. Rajat Jain, President, DFY India, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in healthcare, stating:

The initiative was carried out in coordination with key hospital leadership, including Dr. Charu Bamba, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Geetika Khanna, Principal, VMMC, along with all Additional Medical Superintendents, Dr. Rekha Tirkey and Dr. R.P. Saini, ensuring smooth implementation and integration of the equipment into existing systems.

DDA Mr. Ganesh Kumar graced the occasion. Faculty members, ONS Ms. Kailash Pal, and nurses of the Department of Cardiology were also present during the event.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment among all partners to strengthen public healthcare delivery, promote innovation, and improve access to quality medical services.
