Actor and dancer Nora Fatehi has broken her silence over the controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from the film KD: The Devil, saying she had no knowledge of the Hindi version of the track and that no permission was sought from her before it was released with her image.

In a detailed video statement, Fatehi revealed she had originally shot the song three years ago in Kannada, as part of a project featuring Sanjay Dutt. She said she had agreed to the song believing it to be a remake of a well-known track and had relied on the makers' representations since she does not understand Kannada. When the song was later dubbed into Hindi with lyrics she described as problematic, neither her approval nor her awareness was sought. "Whatever they have done right now — dubbing it in Hindi — they did not take any permission or approval from me," she said.

Fatehi said she flagged her discomfort as early as the song's launch event, where she noticed the use of unflattering photos and an AI-generated image of herself alongside Dutt without consent. She said she had directly told the director the Hindi version was unacceptable and formally dissociated herself from the project, refusing to promote it. "I told the director my image and reputation are on the line," she said.

Fatehi concluded by calling for greater accountability from filmmakers who use artists' likenesses without consent. She also requested fans to stop sharing the song to avoid amplifying it further, while acknowledging that public backlash had ultimately compelled the makers to take the track down.
