CSR Boost Gives Safdarjung Hospital New CT Scan Facility, Eases Diagnostic Burden
New Delhi:In a significant upgrade to public healthcare infrastructure in the Capital, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital on Wednesday inaugurated a new CT Scan machine, funded through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support of PTC India Limited, PTC Foundation and implemented by Doctors For You (DFY). The addition is expected to substantially ease diagnostic pressure at one of Delhi’s busiest government hospitals.
The facility was formally inaugurated in the presence of Dr Manoj Kumar Jhawar, Chairman and Managing Director of PTC India Limited; Rashmi Verma, Chairperson of the company’s CSR Committee; and Pankaj Goel, Executive Director, PTC India Limited. The event was presided over by Dr Sandeep Bansal, Director of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, a senior cardiologist known for his patient-focused approach.
Dr Rajat Jain, President of Doctors For You, the implementing agency, and Dr Charu Bamba, Medical Superintendent, were also present during the inauguration.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bansal said the new CT Scan machine would significantly enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities. “This addition will help reduce waiting times, improve the accuracy of diagnosis and ensure timely treatment for thousands of patients who depend on Safdarjung Hospital every day,” he said, while expressing gratitude to PTC India Limited for extending CSR support to the institution.
Dr Jhawar said PTC India remains committed to creating long-term social impact through its CSR initiatives, with healthcare being a key focus area. He noted that access to advanced diagnostic facilities remains a major challenge for economically weaker sections, and the installation of the CT Scan machine was a step towards bridging that gap.
Rashmi Verma highlighted the importance of responsible corporate participation in strengthening public healthcare systems. She said well-aligned CSR initiatives can play a critical role in improving patient outcomes and overall service delivery in government hospitals.
Dr Rajat Jain underscored the value of collaboration between public institutions, corporate partners and non-governmental implementation agencies. Such coordination, he said, ensures timely execution of projects and enables large public hospitals to serve patients more effectively.
The ceremony was attended by members of the CSR committees of the collaborating organisations, Dr Amita Malik, Head of the Department of Radiology, along with doctors, faculty members, nursing staff and students.
Hospital authorities said VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital remains committed to ensuring optimal use of CSR-supported facilities, with a continued focus on patient-centric services and expanding access to advanced medical diagnostics.
