Gurugram Student Allegedly Raped, Burned by Live-In Partner; Accused Arrested From Delhi
19-Year-Old Tripura Woman Found Injured at Badshahpur PG Accommodation, Referred to AIIMS Delhi for Critical Care
A 19-year-old woman, a student at a private university in Gurugram, was allegedly confined, assaulted, and raped by her 19-year-old live-in partner following a dispute at their paying guest accommodation in the Badshahpur area. The accused was arrested from Delhi shortly after the incident came to light on February 19.
The case surfaced after the survivor's mother contacted the Badshahpur police station on February 19, alleging that her daughter was being confined and harassed by her boyfriend at their shared PG room. A police team was immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, officers found the woman visibly injured and transported her to the Sector 10 hospital for emergency treatment. Given the severity of her condition — which included burns on her body — she was subsequently referred to AIIMS Delhi for advanced care.
According to police, the survivor and the accused first met in September 2025. The two had been living together in the same room, with both families reportedly aware of the relationship and in discussions about their prospective marriage. However, disagreements between the families appear to have triggered a confrontation.
"It came to light during interrogation that the families were discussing the couple's marriage. However, due to some disagreements, the accused allegedly assaulted the victim," said Gurugram Police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Turan. Investigators said the accused had frequently questioned the woman about her activities, and an argument eventually escalated into assault and rape.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Badshahpur police station, based on the survivor's complaint and findings from her medical examination. The survivor is originally from Tripura, while the accused is a Delhi resident.
"Relevant sections were added to the case based on the victim's complaint and the medical examination report. A detailed probe is being conducted," Turan confirmed.
