IFS Probationary Officers Interact With Bihar Govt on Global Diplomacy and Technical Education Reforms
As part of their induction training, six probationary officers of the Indian Foreign Service paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education, where Minister Sunil Kumar and Secretary Dr. Pratima highlighted Bihar’s push towards globally competitive, employment-oriented technical education and international academic collaboration.
As part of their induction training programme, six probationary officers of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) visited the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education today and paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Minister Shri Sunil Kumar and the Departmental Secretary, Dr. Pratima.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble Minister welcomed the probationary officers and held discussions on India’s role in the evolving global order, emerging geopolitical developments, and contemporary international issues. The role and contribution of the Bihari diaspora at the global level also came up during the discussions.
The Hon’ble Minister apprised the officers of the continuous efforts being made by the department to make technical education in the state more employment-oriented. Emphasis is being laid on demand-driven and market-driven courses, with Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies being integrated into the regular curriculum to enhance the global competitiveness of students. The probationary officers also shared their perspectives on various initiatives undertaken by the department.
The Departmental Secretary briefed the officers in detail about the roles, responsibilities, functioning, and best practices of the department. Through a detailed presentation, it was highlighted that every district in the state now has at least one engineering college and one polytechnic institute. The officers were also informed about the establishment of language laboratories where students are being trained in foreign languages such as French, German, and Japanese, enabling them to better access international opportunities, multinational companies, and global academic collaborations.It was further informed that the department is actively working towards academic collaborations with foreign universities, where the role of Indian Embassies and High Commissions would be crucial.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Hon’ble Minister and the Departmental Secretary extended their best wishes to the probationary officers for their future diplomatic responsibilities. The programme was attended by the Hon’ble Minister Shri Sunil Kumar, Departmental Secretary Dr. Pratima, Director Shri Ahmad Mahmood, and IFS probationary officers Shri Aman Patel, Shri Keshav Raj, Shri Vaibhav Kumar, Ms. Devika Priyadarshini, Shri Mayank Bhardwaj, and Shri Monu Sharma.
