Anbumani Ramadoss Promises Rs 2,000 Monthly Aid for Women, Push to Raise Marriage Age to 21 in Tamil Nadu
PMK manifesto for 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls focuses on women’s welfare, education reforms, NEET exemption, and corruption probe against DMK
Chennai-Women will be given a monthly assistance of Rs 2,000, and this benefit will be extended to all women, PMK’s election manifesto promises, as Anbumani Ramadoss announced. He also stated that the Union government would be urged to increase the legal marriage age for women to 21 in Tamil Nadu.
Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Anbumani Ramadoss released the party’s election manifesto. Speaking after releasing the document, he said, “A social justice census will be conducted in Tamil Nadu.
Some people do not like the word caste; that is why we refer to it as a social justice census. The DMK has buried social justice 100 feet deep. In five years, the DMK has committed corruption worth Rs 6 lakh crore.
An inquiry committee will be set up to investigate corruption under the DMK regime. A white paper on industrial investments will be released. During the DMK rule, only Rs 90,000 crore investments were realised, while agreements worth Rs 12 lakh crore were merely signed.
Free and quality education will be provided in government schools up to Class 12. A total of Rs 1.07 lakh crore will be allocated to the education sector. Over the past 10 years, student enrolment in government schools has declined from 75 lakh to 45 lakh, while private school enrolment has increased from 35 lakh to 65 lakh. Around 60,000 teachers will be recruited. A bagless education system will be introduced from Class 6, and free handheld computers will be provided to students studying in Class 6.
To prevent student dropouts, poor students will be given Rs 500 per month in Class 10, and Rs 1,000 per month in Classes 11 and 12. The DMK, which had earlier promised exemption from NEET in its previous manifesto, has now removed that promise. PMK will continue to press for NEET exemption in Tamil Nadu. Quality education and quality healthcare will be provided free of cost.
For intermediate and graduate teachers who have cleared the TET exam, no competitive examination will be conducted.
At present, Tamil Nadu has only 1,300 ‘108’ ambulances. Under the DMK regime, only 70 ambulances have been procured in five years. If PMK comes to power, this will be increased to 2,500 ambulances. Every year, Rs 20,000 crore will be allocated for irrigation projects.
In Tamil Nadu, around 2,000 low-budget films have not been released. The DMK’s first family controls the film industry in the state. People associated with the film sector are agitated to remove the DMK government. The DMK’s cinema syndicate will be dismantled. Evening snacks will be provided to government school students. Over the past 74 years, Tamil Nadu had a direct debt of Rs 4.56 lakh crore. However, after the DMK assumed office in 2021, the state has borrowed Rs 5 lakh crore in five years,” he said, outlining several promises.
