Diljit Dosanjh is reportedly set to be replaced in Border 2 following the controversy surrounding his film Sardaar Ji 3, .

Singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh has reportedly been replaced in the upcoming war drama Border 2 amid the controversy surrounding his previous film Sardaar Ji 3, which faced backlash for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. According to sources close to the project, since Border 2 focuses on the Indian Army, the makers felt Diljit might not be the right fit for the role.

It’s been suggested that actor Ammy Virk is likely to step in to replace Dosanjh, though the film’s makers have not officially confirmed this yet. The source also mentioned that the team plans to re-shoot all the scenes featuring Diljit to avoid any negative impact on the film’s promotion.

BN Tiwari, president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), said that while the official word hasn’t come through, replacing Diljit seems to be the only solution. “If they continue shooting with Diljit, it would show they support him, which isn’t the case,” he said.

India Today reached out to T-Series and producer Nidhi Dutta for comment but hasn’t received a response so far.

Earlier, FWICE had strongly urged Border 2 producers not to work with Diljit. Despite the controversy, Diljit had shared a video on Instagram showing the warm welcome he received on the Border 2 set, and the makers posted a photo of the entire cast.

Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 hit Border, is scheduled for release during the Republic Day weekend on January 23 next year. The film stars Sunny Deol, along with Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty.
