The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested a 24-year-old Indian Navy personnel for allegedly spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, in what authorities have described as a serious breach of national security. The accused, identified as Adarsh Kumar alias Lucky, a resident of Agra, was serving as a Lance Naik with the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, Kerala, at the time of his arrest.

How the Case Came to Light

The UP ATS said in a press statement that it had received credible intelligence inputs indicating that an individual within the armed forces was in active contact with a Pakistan-based ISI agent and had been passing on sensitive information to the handler. Acting on these inputs, the ATS moved swiftly to identify and apprehend the suspect before further damage could be done.

Adarsh Kumar — who went by the alias Lucky — was tracked down and arrested following the intelligence tip-off. Investigators are now working to establish the nature and extent of the information that may have been shared with the ISI, as well as the duration of the alleged contact with the Pakistani intelligence operative.

The arrest comes at a particularly sensitive time, with India's security apparatus on heightened alert amid the ongoing West Asia conflict and elevated threat perceptions along the country's borders.
