Actor and filmmaker Justin Baldoni has broken his silence amid the ongoing legal battle with his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively. Speaking to TMZ at Los Angeles airport on Monday (September 29), Baldoni offered a calm and optimistic outlook despite the high-profile court case.

“I’m actually doing wonderful,” the Five Feet Apart director told the reporter. “I’m very grateful, very positive, and feeling a lot of love.” When asked about his seemingly composed demeanor, the reporter remarked that he appeared to be “taking the high road.” To that, Baldoni responded with a smile, “That’s what we always try to do.”

Baldoni's comments come shortly after he hired high-profile criminal defense attorney Alexandra Shapiro to represent him. Shapiro, known for defending notable clients such as Sean "Diddy" Combs and FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, officially joined the case on September 15, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly.

The legal drama between Baldoni and Lively began in December last year, after Lively accused him of sexual harassment on the set of It Ends With Us. She also alleged that Baldoni had orchestrated a smear campaign against her during the film’s production. The case quickly escalated when Baldoni responded with a defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds. However, his suit was dismissed in June.

Following the dismissal, a spokesperson for Lively told Us Weekly, “We are very pleased with the outcome of her deposition and now look forward to deposing Justin Baldoni and each of the codefendants in short order.” They also emphasized the importance of confidentiality in deposition testimony, explaining that it must be reviewed and presented under judicial oversight during the trial process.

Despite the ongoing tensions, Baldoni appeared composed and focused on maintaining a positive mindset. The legal proceedings are set to continue, with the case expected to go to trial in May 2026.

As the drama plays out in court, both parties remain under public scrutiny, with the case drawing widespread attention due to the high-profile nature of the actors involved.
