The N.S.D. Opens Gates for 25th Edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav - 2026!
The 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav, India's premier theatre festival, begins on Jan 27, 2026, showcasing rich Indian cultural & theatrical extravaganza in over 40 locations across India and globally.
The Theatre and varied arts forms have always been an integral part of the rich traditional and cultural heritage of the Country - Bharat! Be it Dance forms, Arts forms, Singing or the Centuries-old Theatrical Performances; the Cultural Mosaic has always captivated the hearts of the Millions of people all across the World.
In this direction, the National School of Drama under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India has been envisaged with the responsibility for the preservation and promotion of the Country’s age-old traditional Theatrical History.
Marking its invincible contributions in the direction, the National School of Drama popularly known as N.S.D. has been organising the “Bharat Rang Mahotsav”, a Grandeur of rich Indian Cultural & Theatrical extravaganza.
Preserving and conserving the ancient cultural heritage and the promoting the tangible and intangible theatrical art and culture, the Bharat Rang Mahotsav has been one of the main and major attractions amongst the lovers of Theatre! From being a National Festival to now, being a perfect destination to witness the vivid Theatrical Art forms, the Bharat Rang Mahotsav has become one of the main attractions amongst the Theatre lovers across the globe.
Providing the Theatre lover a chance to witness the rich Theatrical Performances, the N.S.D. organizes the Bharat Rang Mahotsav in the Month of February every Year.
Following the tradition, the N.S.D. has opened-up the gates of 25TH Edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav - 2026 with great pomp and show for the public from 27TH January to 20TH February - 2026.
Raising the Curtains and opening the Gates of Bharat Rang Mahotsav - 2026, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat underlined the role of Bharat Rang Mahotsav as a powerful platform for connecting India’s diverse cultural traditions, stories and artistic expressions with audiences across the globe. Shri Shekhawat regarded the festivals as helping in transforming India’s culturally rich arts and culture’s global perceptions by enabling a deeper understanding of the Nation’s rich cultural heritage on an International Stage.
Shri Vivek Aggarwal, I.A.S., Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor alongwith Ms. K. Nandini Singla, Director General, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Rang Doot - Ms. Mita Vashisht, noted Actor and National School of Drama Alumna as the Special Guests.
Padma Shri Awardee, Prof. Bharat Gupt, Vice-Chairperson, N.S.D. Society alongwith Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director, N.S.D. and Shri Pradeep K. Mohanty, Registrar, N.S.D. alongwith the noted Celebrities of Theatre World were also present during the inaugural ceremony.
The launch of the N.S.D.’s App-based Radio Station - “Rang Akash” and the O.T.T. Platform - “Naatyam” by the Hon’ble Union Minister marked a significant step to strengthen the N.S.D.’s digital and global outreach.
Marking the celebrations of its invincible journey of 25 Years, this Year, the Bharat Rang Mahotsav is being organized in uts largest format. The Mahotsav will mark its presence in over 40 locations across Bharat and 1 Country on each Continent. The Mahotsav will feature 277 Indian amd 12 International Productions presented in 288 Languages and Dialects. This Year, the showcasing of a vibrant blend of traditional Theatre forms, contemporary experiments and cross-cultural dialogues will all add-up to glorify the grace of the Mahotsav!
