Bihar Registration Department Surpasses ₹8,250 Crore Target, Records 9.86% Revenue Growth in FY26
Patna leads districts as higher revenue per document offsets drop in registrations; state achieves 101.86% of target
Bihar’s Registration Department has recorded strong revenue performance in the financial year 2025–26, surpassing its annual target and registering steady growth. Against a target of ₹8,250 crore, the department achieved ₹8,403.46 crore, reaching 101.86 percent of the target. This marks an increase of ₹754.58 crore, or 9.86 percent, compared to the previous financial year.
In 2024–25, the department had collected ₹7,648.88 crore against a target of ₹7,500 crore, achieving 101.98 percent. The continued rise highlights improved efficiency and sustained administrative efforts in revenue collection.
Among districts, Patna emerged as the top performer, registering 1,28,367 documents and generating ₹1,506.15 crore in revenue, significantly exceeding its target. Other high-performing districts included Arwal, Aurangabad, Banka, and Sheohar, all of which recorded collections above their respective targets.
At the office level, Danapur led revenue generation with ₹255.72 crore, followed by Rajauli, Patna City, Vikram, and Dehri-on-Sone, each surpassing their assigned targets with notable margins.
However, some districts recorded comparatively lower performance, including Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Samastipur, Bettiah, and Madhepura, where collections remained below target levels.
Division-wise, Patna division topped the state with revenue of ₹2,303.84 crore, followed by Bhagalpur and Magadh divisions, both marginally exceeding their targets. Other divisions such as Purnia, Saran, Munger, Tirhut, Darbhanga, and Koshi fell short of their targets despite substantial document registrations.
Overall, the state registered 15,93,526 documents in 2025–26, a decline of about 9 percent compared to the previous year. Despite the drop in volume, revenue per document increased significantly to ₹49,699, up 13.80 percent from ₹43,670, indicating higher transaction values.
Officials attributed the achievement to coordinated efforts across the department, including enhanced monitoring and operational measures. On the last working day of the financial year alone, 14,905 documents were registered, generating ₹107.74 crore in a single day.
The department also kept offices open on holidays and Sundays between January and March 2026 to maximise collections, contributing to the overall performance and helping the state exceed its revenue target.
